I’m Happy Being Miserable
As I speak to people from all around the world I get to meet all types of people doing some amazing things in their life, work and community. It is these types of people that are passionate and inspiring to be around. I actually don’t want to talk about these people today, it’s the people at the other end of the scale.
The ones that are happy being miserable! These people are miserable, unhappy and are basically ticked off with their life. They complain about everything and constantly blame their personal circumstances & everyone else around them. They never seem to want to change. Hence, they are happy being miserable!
Years ago I would ask the question – why are some people so negative? Now I ask the question – what has happened to them? We are not born negative, we are all passionate as some stage in our lives.
As you walk your journey you will have many types of people cross your pathway, don’t be effected by the negative ones ~ everyone has their own battles they are facing, so just have empathy for them and move on.
Different Types of Passion
I was asked the question recently ~ how many passions can one have? My response is… it is OK to have many passions in our lives such as hobbies that we are passionate about or passions that we turn into income producing enterprises.
When it comes to your passions ~ it is about doing the activities that connect with you the most. Don’t let advertising or society stereotype you into what you should be doing. Passions are activities that connect with your heart and make you feel alive because of the feeling they give you ~ which is why it is vital for us to connect and continue to reconnect with our passions.
Engaging in activities that we are passionate about is the life blood that fuels our energy each day gives us the strength to steam forwards. Don’t underestimate the power of your passion.
What are you going to do this week to reconnect with what your passionate about?
Just Accept – Then Take Action
How often do we act out of anger, fear, regret or worry? Negative emotions sometimes play a key role in us taking action. I am all for taking action ~ no procrastinating here, however when we take action that is driven by a negative state of mind or emotion we limit our impact and ability to create what is great for ourselves.
As I have been on my journey meditating daily using Chris Dorje Walker’s CD’s (http://www.dorje.com.au/) I am starting to get the message of ACCEPTANCE. I have discovered that just by internalising the words,“JUST ACCEPT,” takes the emotional charge out of the situation and puts me into a state of flow.
Think about the times when you have reacted whilst experiencing negative emotions? Was the result as powerful, positive and productive as it could have been?
What do you need to accept in your life? Then what positive action are you going to take? Making positive decisions & being passionate is about being in flow, as when you experience flow ~ life becomes effortless.
Present Focus
You need to plan for the future, create a vision of the life you want to live and populate that vision with the goals you want to achieve. However, the real challenge is not to only come up with the vision, goals and a plan but more importantly focus on the things that count presently. Which leads me to the #1 Question you and I need to ask ourselves as we move towards our goals …
What do you need to do now?
I believe it is possible to live too much in the future and live too much in the past. We need to focus on living in the now ~ to channel our energies into attainment rather than exerting all our energy on assumptions.
What are you going to do now?
Maybe Your Goals Should Be Felt
Rather than simply setting goals to achieve certain milestones in your life …
- A new job
- A new career path
- Starting your own business
- Successfully completing your studies
- Paying off your mortgage
- Traveling to India
Try relating your goals to a feeling you want to experience …
- Joy
- Worthiness
- Abundance
- Purposefulness
- Freedom
- Peacefulness
How will the goals you are pursuing at the moment make you feel when you achieve them? Maybe try focus on this by identifying the feelings that relate to the goals you are currently trying to achieve. Emotions are powerful personal drivers in our life ~ so why not use them in a positive way in your quest towards achieving your goals. This is just a way to make a deeper connection between you and your goals & a slightly different way of looking at the goal setting process. Enjoy!
